From The East
This April Trestleboard starts off on a warm and comforting note; it’s with pride that we can salute the brethren of Mt Moriah #51who have worked so diligently in supporting the Lodge and keeping its functions alive. Their demonstrations of who can best work and agree are traits admired from The East.
A big plus is the contribution by Br Bruce Krabseth, our Jr Warden. Bruce, if you’ve noticed, is publishing our Trestleboard on the web so all of us can see it readily. The prose looks good and the graphics are equally appreciated.
We all have been working intently in getting petitioners in and the degree work fulfilled in a well paced fashion. This is one of the objectives set by your WM for this year, it’s an important one as we all know. Once again we are taking measures to see all the brethren are furnished with two (2) petitions: one for your jacket pocket and another for your glove compartment. (Why the glove compartment? Have you ever seen a prospect jump back and bail out of your pickup at 70 mph?) The men about the community are there, and I am pleasantly when more than once a man has said, “I’ve always been interested in that (Masonry).” Well, there my brother is your opportunity.
Our second objective is still in work–a nice way to say it’s off to a slow start. The 2nd objective is to get the brethren back into Lodge. We’ve assigned call lists for specific brethren to ring up. And, we’ve had a few faces appear. Each of us accepts the limits of another brother’s cable-tow, but we will continue gently calling. (That’s your Due Signs and Summons... J )
We continue to work more on our rituals and proficiency. There’s a real note of appreciation, a big thanks to the brethren who show up for practices.
Did you know? Did you know we’ve been snacking and eating at our Masonic gatherings? Oh yes. Our Installation day was complete with a great lunch from Economart. Oh they did well. After that we had another meeting, that one with pumpkin pie and lots of ice cream. On the 3rd of March we had inhaled large pizzas from Pizza Hut. (If I could have experienced this in Scouts I’d have never gotten away from Cubbies, Webelos or Scouting!) Upcoming Stated Communications may present more culinary surprises for the brethren.
We are working on accruing points for the Grand Master’s Award. The number steadily creeps up to the award level. Once again we can use all the ideas and all the help you wish to contribute. Our greatest need is help in the degree work, remember we need fifteen (15) craftsmen to raise a Master Mason. Merely making that appearance with a gown and white gloves is every bit helpful.
Three books of Blue Lodge interest have been passed out to brethren to review and report on. One so reported shows that financial suggestions are positive, and the applications of these to Mt Moriah #51 are encouraged. The reports for the remaining two will be printed here.
